2011: Sandy Bell, Chairperson of Cindy's Fund once again presented a check to the Garrett County Health Department to continue their cancer screening efforts.  This years total was $10,000.   

2010: Sandy Bell, Chairperson of Cindy’s Fund presented a check for $20,000 to William W. Pope, M.D. of the Garrett County Health Department.  The money will be used to help pay for cancer screening examinations and tests by local health care providers for county residents of low-income, or with inadequate medical insurance through the CPEST program.

This program, coordinated by the health department, has assisted over 1000 persons to undergo screening for 6 cancers, including over 600 colonoscopies. The program has identified 47 persons with cancer who then have been followed through treatment.

Persons who would like to join the program may call the Health Department at 301-334-7777 and ask for the cancer screening program.
